Capital's History

Capital Electric Wire & Cable Co. was founded in 1978 by Richard G. Harpster. Initially Capital sold exclusively to the Industrial and Utility market. Typically providing them with power cable, tray cable, cordage and various lead wires. As customer needs evolved so did our products and services.

In 1985 we became involved with the Communications market. We became an Authorized AT&T Network Cabling Systems distributor in 1988. That product line changed into Lucent Systimax and is now called Avaya Systimax. The names have changed but the committment to high performance has remained. We have since included other product lines from companies such as 3M, B-LINE, PANDUIT, CommScope, Leviton & IDEAL.

We support each and every customer with an experienced staff of dedicated people. There have been many changes since Capital Electric was started in Richard's garage, but one thing has not changed, it's our determination to provide our customers with the best service possible at a competitive price.
